A 16-year-old girl, Rebecca Nyomi, has called for forgiveness after setting her boyfriend’s room on fire in the New Nkusukum suburb of Mankessim.

The incident followed a breakup between Nyomi and her boyfriend, Samuel Agbobli.

Nyomi, who is now assisting police with their investigation, expressed regret for her actions, attributing them to emotional turmoil.

“I have regretted it because I did that out of emotions, so he should forgive me. It won’t happen in my life again,” Nyomi said.

Speaking in an interview on Oyerepa TV on June 19, 2024, she stated, “We had issues, and he told me he wanted us to be separated.

“His grandmother asked us if we were still interested in the relationship, and both of us said no. I also stay in the house and go on my normal duties as an apprentice, so I shouldn’t be sacked from the house because of his issues with me

“The grandmother asked him if she should sack me from the house and he said yes, and out of anger I burnt his house with matches.”

The brouhaha is reported to have begun when Nyomi visited Agbobli at his cornmeal shop to demand “chop money.” However, Agbobli informed her that their relationship was over, accusing her of infidelity.
