Fomena-Dompoase accident: One more victim dies

The death toll from the ghastly accident that occurred on the Fomena-Dompoase road in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region has risen to eight.

This follows confirmation that one more victim has died at the Fomena Government Hospital. Another patient in critical condition has also been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Seven passengers died instantly at the scene, while others sustained severe injuries and are receiving treatment at the Fomena Hospital.

The triple collision occurred around 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, near the ECG office on the Fomena-Dompoase stretch.

According to reports, a Sprinter bus, which was traveling from Kumasi to Cape Coast, attempted a wrongful overtaking while a Toyota Corolla ahead was turning into a washing bay.

This resulted in a violent collision involving an oncoming VIP bus en route to Kumasi from Cape Coast.

The Corolla driver reportedly fled the scene, while the VIP driver, who was the only occupant of his vehicle, sustained minor injuries.

Authorities have begun investigations into the incident.
