Residents of Fise in the Ga North Municipality have called on the relevant authorities to intervene in a land dispute involving a proposed Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound.
The concerns centre on a parcel of land which a claimant says belongs to him and on which construction work for the proposed health facility has reportedly commenced.
According to the claimant, the Ga North Municipal Assembly previously issued a building permit for the property after the required fees had been paid. He alleges that work on the proposed CHPS compound began subsequently, raising questions about the status of the land and the circumstances surrounding the project.
The claimant says he has made efforts to resolve the matter through the appropriate channels, including contacting the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Akwetey Agbo, and reporting the issue to the police.
He claims that his attempts to obtain a resolution have so far been unsuccessful and that he was advised to seek redress through the courts.
The claimant further says he has initiated legal proceedings and informed the relevant police division that the matter was before the court. He maintains that construction activities have continued despite the ongoing dispute.
The circumstances surrounding the project and the status of the legal proceedings could not be independently confirmed.
The claimant has also expressed concerns about his interactions with the Amasaman Divisional Police Commander, Mr. Peter Adjei. He alleges that the commander threatened to arrest him in connection with the disputed property. The allegation has not been independently verified.
Questions have also been raised by the claimant about the involvement of other individuals in the matter, including Nathaniel Noi Addy, whom he identifies as a WO and associates with security activities in the Ga North area. Their respective roles, if any, in the land dispute could not be independently established.
Some residents say they want the matter investigated to establish the facts and ensure that the interests of all parties are protected.
They are calling on the Minister responsible for Local Government and the Inspector-General of Police to look into the concerns and help ensure that the dispute is handled through the appropriate legal and administrative processes.
The residents say a petition is being prepared for submission to the IGP. The claimant also says legal action has been initiated against the MCE, with a writ reportedly served on October 15, 2026.
They maintain that the provision of healthcare infrastructure is important to the community but insist that concerns over land ownership should be addressed through the appropriate procedures.
Efforts to obtain comments from Hon. Akwetey Agbo, Mr. Peter Adjei and Nathaniel Noi Addy were unsuccessful before publication.
The allegations remain unverified, and no conclusion is drawn regarding ownership of the disputed property or the conduct of the individuals mentioned. The relevant parties have the opportunity to respond as further information becomes available.
