FIFA approves Normalisation Committee statutes

FIFA has approved the statutes proposed by the Normalisation Committee, clearing the way for a new constitution of the Ghana Football Association.

JoySports understands that the approval came in within the last 24 hours.

The statutes proposed by the NC were done as a response to widespread agreement that some of the previous rules in Ghana football governance were hindering progress.

It also means Ghana is one step closer to FA elections.

This is the second six-month term of the NC, which was appointed by FIFA last September to normalise Ghana football with a clear mandate to run the administration’s day-to-day activities, do a forensic audit of the FA’s accounts, review the GFA statutes and also organise elections to choose a new GFA president and his Executive Committee to replace the old executive headed by Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Nyantakyi’s 13-year leadership came to an end when he resigned 11 months ago after he was implicated an expose on widespread corruption in Ghana football.
