Fabewoso: Accra Central District Courts shutdown [Video]

Her Ladyship the Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo has closed down the Accra Central District Courts with immediate effect.

This follows a decision by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to remove the doors and windows of the courthouse and chambers of the Magistrates on 13th and 15th February 2019 without recourse to the Management of the Service.

A letter signed by the Judicial Secretary, Cynthia Pamela A. Addo said “in view of the foregoing, all cases at the District Court, Laterbiokorshe, are to be transferred to the District Court, Kaneshie”.

A member of the Judicial Staff Association, Agya Osei Bonsu, confirmed this on Adom FM’s anti-corruption show, Fabewoso.

He said the closure will affect clients because they would have to file a new case at the new courts before their cases could be heard.

“It’s unfortunate the AMA did not inform us before embarking on the operation but we are going to access the situation on the ground and find a solution to it,” Mr Osei Bonsu added.
