Every Ashanti who votes for Bawumia is ‘cow meat’ – Alan’s boy dabbles in politics of tribalism

The National Coordinator of Zumanta for Alan Kyerematen, Bala Maikankan popularly known as Chairman Bala, is being cited for engaging in politics of tribalism in his attempt to woo voters in the Ashanti Region.

Addressing a crowd of Movement for Change supporters after a walk in the Ashanti Region on Saturday, October 19, 2024, Chairman Bala resorted to disparaging words over what he said is an attempt by the New Patriotic Party to seek Ashanti votes for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“They are telling Zongo people that he is a Muslim and from the Zongo, so they should vote for him. Do you believe he ought to be voted for? If Bawumia engages in religious and tribal politics, and you, the people of Ashanti, go ahead and vote for him, you are mere meat. Because if Bawumia goes to the people of Zongo communities to ask for their votes because he is a Muslim, then Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen is an Ashanti, your own kinsman. So if you don’t vote for him, you are meat; every Ashanti listening to me here or watching me on TV that will vote for Bawumia is cow meat,” he said.

His comment has attracted heavy criticism on social media, with some users citing his statement as being offensive and tribalistic.
