Esther Smith responds to digital fraud, music hijacking allegations

Legendary Ghanaian gospel musician Esther Smith has addressed allegations from OFM Computer World and its CEO, Dr. Debrich Jeremiah Acheampong, regarding digital fraud and control over her music rights and platforms.

In a public statement, Esther Smith explained that she believes OFM Computer World and its affiliate, Debrich Consultancy, took actions that led to unauthorised control over her digital platforms, including her official website and YouTube channel.

Esther Smith expressed concerns that her music distribution accounts and online presence were mismanaged and that she did not receive the full benefits from her music’s digital distribution.

Smith also shared that she uncovered discrepancies related to her song ownership and royalties, which led her to question the company’s practices in managing her digital assets.

“I was not informed or consulted about changes made to my official platforms. Upon further investigation, I discovered issues that caused confusion about the rightful ownership and royalties from my music,” Smith said.

She further explained that she felt payments for certain services were not properly justified and that she was misled about the promotional efforts made on her behalf.

Meanwhile, Esther Smith’s concerns have caught the attention of other artists in the industry, who have come forward with similar experiences related to their digital content management. Many have echoed Smith’s call for greater transparency in digital partnerships within the music industry.

Background on Debrich’s Statement

In response to Smith’s remarks, Dr. Debrich Jeremiah Acheampong of OFM Computer World has stated that the company entered into a contractual agreement with Smith in 2020, in which they managed her YouTube channel and other online platforms as part of a digital partnership.

Dr. Acheampong clarified that the company believes the agreement was not properly upheld when changes were made to the channel’s login credentials, disrupting their account management. He has emphasised the importance of following contractual agreements and ensuring that digital platforms are managed according to the terms set out by both parties.
