Ernest Yaw Kumi’s seat tied with red cloth as Parliament mourns him

Parliament has been thrown into mourning following the death of the Member of Parliament for the Akwatia constituency, Ernest Yaw Kumi.

Following the news of his untimely demise on Monday, July 7, 2025, both New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs mourned him in the Chamber.

The MPs remain in shock over the sudden loss, describing him as gentle and calm.

The Minority Chief Whip and Tolon MP, Habib Iddrisu, draped his chair in red to signify the solemn moment.

Though the House is yet to be officially notified, the sombre mood and demeanour of MPs send a clear message of grief and sadness.
