Enough of the talking, the NPP made you – Dr Ayisi Boateng tells Adwoa Safo

Adwoa Safo has been on a media tour in recent days, engaging several media outlets to express what she refers to as her long-endured unfair treatment, despite her previous apology to the party and her constituency after facing family issues and being absent from her parliamentary duties for months.

In her interviews, she has made comments criticizing other senior members of the party, including the former Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye.

Her outbursts have become a source of concern for the party, which issued a statement cautioning members against making public statements that could create division within the party.

Commenting on the development, Dr. Ayisi-Boateng implored Adwoa Safo, a former Minister and Deputy Majority Leader, to heed the party’s advice and stop granting media interviews in her own interest.

He added that the politician and lawyer should instead be grateful to the party for elevating her public profile in Ghana.

“Adwoa Safo, I beg of her—if not for the NPP, she would not have been popular. Yes, she is the daughter of the great and renowned inventor Dr. Apostle Kwadwo Safo, who has done a lot for Ghana and has been blessed by God. However, Adwoa Safo should stop talking. I reiterate that had it not been for the NPP, she wouldn’t have been known, despite her father’s status and influence. The NPP has made her who she is. I, Ayisi-Boateng, am known by many people because of the NPP. Hence, I am proud to be a member of the NPP,” Dr. Ayisi-Boateng stated.

Meanwhile, the NPP has referred Adwoa Safo to its National Disciplinary Committee over her recent media remarks regarding the party’s 2024 electoral defeat.

This follows the NPP’s earlier directive cautioning members against making public statements that could create division within the party.

In a statement on Thursday, March 20, 2025, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong stated that Adwoa Safo’s comments defied party directives and undermined efforts to rebuild.

“As she is aware, the directive explicitly states that all party members must cease discussing party issues that create unrest, negativity, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms. Her actions are not only in disregard of this directive but also undermine the party’s efforts to rebuild and move forward.

“As a former Member of Parliament, former Deputy Majority Leader, and former Minister of State under the erstwhile NPP government, she was expected to set a good example and adhere to the principles of discipline, loyalty, and unity that have always defined our great party.”
