Chelsea boss Maresca names player he has been unfair to

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has admitted that he has not been fair to Frenchman Christopher Nkunku.

According to the Italian manager, the former RB Leipzig forward deserves more playing time at Stamford Bridge.

This statement comes amid Nkunku’s failed move in the winter transfer window.

The 27-year-old was linked with moves to Bayern Munich and Manchester United during the winter transfer window.

Nkunku was keen on leaving the Blues to secure regular playing time elsewhere.

The forward has started just three matches in the Premier League this season, with all his starts coming in cup competitions.

Speaking after the Blues’ victory over West Ham United, Maresca acknowledged that Nkunku deserves more playing time.

“Christo, since day one, has been very good, very professional,” Maresca said after Chelsea’s victory over West Ham on Monday night.

“Probably in some moments I have been unfair to him because he probably deserves something more.

“But hopefully, from now on, he can help us a little bit more.”
