Eid: Be safety-conscious – Police

The Ghana Police Service has asked all Muslims to be mindful of their personal safety as they celebrate the Eid-Ul-Fitr on Friday, 15 June.

A statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police, David Eklu, Director-General/Public Affairs, said adequate security measures have been put in place to protect life and property during the celebration.

“The Police administration and the entire Police Service congratulate all Muslims in the country on a successful Ramadan and also wish them ‘Barka da Sallah’ on the occasion of the celebration of the Eid-Ul-Fitr.

“The Police wishes to assure the general public, especially Muslims that adequate security measures have been put in place to create a congenial atmosphere for a peaceful celebration of the Eid,” the statement said.

It added: “While wishing all Muslims an enjoyable festival, the Police wish to seize the opportunity to entreat celebrants, especially the youth to endeavour to observe motor traffic regulations.

“They are also advised to be mindful of their safety and that of other members of the public”, and the “police is on hand for any assistance on the following hotlines: MTN and Vodafone 18555 and All networks 191 or 0302773906.”
