ECG launches disconnection exercise dubbed ‘Operation Keep The Lights On’

The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited has announced its disconnection exercise dubbed “Operation Keep The Lights On” to mobilise revenue.

In a widely circulated announcement on January 13, 2025, the power operator noted that “ECG wishes to inform our cherished customers and the general public that the Company will embark on an exercise dubbed Operation Keep The Lights On, effective Wednesday, 15th to Friday, 31st January, 2025 in all ECG operational areas.”

According to them, this massive revenue mobilisation exercise will focus on all categories of customers in arrears as well as the inspection of all prepaid meters to check their integrity.

“Customers are being reminded that it is a criminal offence to undertake self-reconnection after disconnection,” parts of the release noted.

For this reason, it said the regional and district offices will operate with a lean staff pool that will provide essential services to customers during this exercise to enable total participation by top management and staff.

“ECG wishes to state that the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission’s LI (2413) gives us full access to all our installations, therefore customers and the general public are being advised to cooperate with ECG to carry out our mandate,” it concluded.
