EC deploys 1,475 BVDs to 7 constituencies in Savannah Region

The Savannah Regional branch of the Electoral Commission (EC) has successfully deployed electoral materials, including Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) and ballot papers, to all seven constituencies in the region.

The exercise occurred on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the Savannah Regional Police Headquarters under tight security and the supervision of representatives from political parties.

The deployment included 1,475 BVDs and 353,390 ballot papers distributed across the constituencies as follows:

  • Bole-Bamboi: 5,960
  • Yapei-Kusawgu: 73,650
  • North Gonja: 35,550
  • Salaga North: 25,980
  • Salaga South: 62,195
  • Sawla-Tuna-Kalba: 55,010
  • Damongo: 41,380

The Savannah Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Johnson Akafia, along with seven district officers, oversaw the exercise, ensuring the numerical accuracy of the materials.

The deployment was accompanied by heavy security patrols and close monitoring by representatives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Dr. Niama Abdulai of the NDC and Saburu Kantama of the NPP expressed satisfaction with the process, commending the EC for its transparency and thoroughness.
