Driver shot dead, others injured in highway robbery attack at Agona Suromanya

A driver named Fuseini Ishmaila has been shot dead, while others have been wounded from gun shots after armed robbers numbering six, blocked the Gomoa Dasum – Agona Kwanyarko road in the Central Region and robbed over 15 cars.

The robbery operation which occurred around 8:00 pm on Friday September 7, 2024, saw the robbers succeeding in making away with several thousands of cedis and mobile phones.

Reports say the robbery operation lasted for close to one hour, until some residents took a bold decision to confront them before they fled the scene.

The residents who allegedly called the police for assistance several times but received no help, then decided to launch an onslaught on the robbers using their locally manufactured guns.

Sensing danger, the robbers fled for their lives.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy and preservation, while the injured are receiving treatment at the hospital.

The case has been reported to the police for investigation.
