Former Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has earned widespread praise for his heartfelt presence and solidarity as he joined mourners at Tarkwa Huni Valley in the Western Region to pay his respects at the final funeral rites of Obaapanyin Hannah Mensah, the late mother of renowned educationist and political communicator, David Prah.

Dr. Adutwum’s appearance at the funeral has been described by observers and community members as a true testament to his humility, loyalty, and commitment to nurturing relationships beyond politics and public service.

The funeral, held over the weekend, brought together dignitaries from across political and educational circles. It was a solemn occasion marked by traditional rituals, Christian thanksgiving services, and emotional tributes celebrating the life and legacy of the late matriarch.

Dr. Adutwum’s Comforting Gesture

Speaking on behalf of the Prah family, David Prah, a former Director-General of the Ghana TVET Service and one-time Eastern Regional Communications Director of the NPP, expressed his deepest gratitude to Dr. Adutwum for his physical presence and unwavering support during the family’s moment of grief.

“On behalf of the Prah Family at Tarkwa Huni-Valley, we express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for your attendance and support during the final funeral rites of our beloved mother, Obaapanyin Hannah Mensah,” Prah stated.

“Though we were sad because of the demise of our mother, your great support in this difficult moment got us comforted. Your attendance, support, and donation made the funeral a memorable one.”

Mr. Prah went on to describe the former Minister and his delegation as “a great team of all time” and praised their compassion: “What a caring team! This has been super. “A mother’s impact goes far beyond the home. It is felt in how her children touch the world. Today, we celebrate the life of a woman who nurtured not just a family but a legacy of service and excellence,” Dr. Adutwum shared.

He also encouraged the family and community to continue preserving the values she stood for—integrity, unity, and compassion.
