Dr Likee hints at quitting acting

Ghanaian actor and comedy skit maker, Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, also known as Dr Likee, has announced that he will put an end to his acting career two weeks after he returns to Ghana from the United Kingdom (UK).

Explaining his decision in an interview shared on the Instagram page of GhKwaku, Dr Likee explained that despite his efforts, hard work and commitment to ensuring that up and coming actors and content creators do well on YouTube, there are a lot of people who badmouth and accuse him wrongly.

According to him, due to the stressful nature of his work, and the numerous accusations levelled against him, he has decided to quit.

He said, “Two weeks after I return to Ghana, I won’t do it again. I am not going to act nor will I produce movies again. As I prepare to return home, there are about 50 producers and creators who want me on their sets. I work from 6am in the morning to 6pm in the evening and the stress is too much. I am tired.

“Also, the accusations that I have my preferred people I work with is very false. Present all the creators here and point out who I have not worked with before. So, you see, it is because of these accusations and more that I want to quit.”

He noted that, “When I quit, I won’t be accused or blamed for anything.”

Dr Likee has been credited by many for the recent revival of the Kumawood movie industry. Through his YouTube comedy skit, he has elevated and brought to the limelight a lot of up-and-coming actors.

The likes of Kyekyeku, 39/40, C-confion, Jordan, Sobolo and many others rose to fame through him.
