Dr. Bawumia storms Adum market to commiserate with victims

Addressing the affected traders at the scene of the fire, Dr Bawumia expressed his heartfelt condolences and urged them to allow for a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

“Let’s wait for investigations into the fire incident to be concluded because if it doesn’t conclude, we won’t know what caused it. The investigations will help us know what to do to avoid the reoccurrence of such a tragedy in the market,” he said.

Additionally, Dr Bawumia made a heartfelt appeal to the government to complete phase 2 of the Kejetia Market, which is currently 80% complete and was initiated under the former administration.

“I want to appeal to the government to complete the Kejetia Market phase 2 project. The project which is 80% complete started under our administration which we couldn’t complete so they should complete it to help the traders.”

The 2024 flagbearer of the NPP further commended the efforts of the fire service while expressing sympathy for the two fire officers who were injured in the course of battling the fire.

He noted that the officers are currently under admission and receiving medical treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

“I want to commend the Ghana National Fire Service for their work. They have done a good job and sacrificed to prevent the spread of the fire. I even heard two of their personnel were injured and currently receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. I wish them a quick recovery,” he added.

Dr Bawumia expressed his commitment to assisting the affected traders in reviving the market, adding that he would help them construct a new market edifice.

“I will help to construct a market and I agree with calls by the traders to construct a market by themselves,” he stated.

Dr Bawumia was accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, and the former Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah.
