Okomfo Kolege responds to criticisms about remarrying after his wife’s death

In the wake of backlashes following his recent marriage two years after his wife’s death, Okomfo Kolege has tackled critics on social media.

After visuals from his wedding went viral, not all netizens were pleased.

Some criticised the Kumawood actor for remarrying too soon, recalling his deep grief after his wife’s death.

They deemed his quick remarriage as hypocritical, arguing it contradicted his previous statements about struggling to move on.

But in response, the actor has shared a cryptic message for his critics online.

He posted a video with the caption, “The Bible says only a fool is considered wise when he is quiet. Father forgive them for they don’t know what they are saying.”

Okomfo Kolege remarried in a private ceremony on October 20, 2024, attended by close friends and family.

Videos from the event showed him and his new wife looking joyful and happy together.

I’m so scared to remarry – Okomfo Kolege

In an earlier interview with Delay, Okomfo Kolege shared his fears about moving on.

When asked about the possibility of settling down again, he admitted that he has been grappling with overwhelming anxiety since his wife’s death.

“We are praying about it. The fear is overwhelming. I faced a lot as a young man, and then this happened. I’m a young guy whose wife has passed away. This was supposed to be something we experienced when we were older. This doesn’t feel like the right time,” he said.

In another interview with Kwaku Manu, he emphasised,“I don’t even think about settling down again. I’m gripped with the fear of marriage and childbirth. Even if I am walking in town and come across anyone who looks like my wife, I get startled. I loved my wife very much.”

“As for pregnant women, when I see them, I just keep staring at them. Recently, I was driving and spotted a pregnant woman from afar, she was nowhere close to my car but I waited for her to cross before I drove on.”

Background

Okomfo Kolege’s wife, Millicent Oteng, tragically passed away on November 17, 2022, during childbirth.

In an interview with Kwaku Manu, the actor explained that her death was due to an unexpected surge in blood pressure during labour, which led to a tear in the nerves in her head.
