Dilapidated NHIA office poses risk to staff at Berekum

A deteriorating National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) office building in the Berekum East Municipality has become a major safety hazard, forcing staff to abandon the main structure due to fears of a possible collapse.
Staff are now operating from a cramped temporary room on the premises, as concerns over structural defects and persistent roof leakages continue to grow.
Assistant Manager of the office, Richard Asomani Appah, disclosed that the building has suffered years of neglect, with damaged electrical systems and malfunctioning air conditioners making working conditions unbearable.
He is calling for urgent intervention to prevent any disaster and to restore efficient service delivery to the public.
Despite the situation, Mr. Appah acknowledged support from the Member of Parliament for the Berekum East Constituency, who has provided two air conditioners to support the temporary workspace.
Clients of the NHIA are being directed to the temporary office for all insurance-related services, as staff continue to manage operations under difficult conditions.
In a show of support, MP Simon Ampaabeng Kyeremeh visited the facility and donated a desktop computer and two additional air conditioners to the NHIA and the Pensioners Association.
He assured the workers and constituents that he would engage the relevant authorities to push for the renovation or complete reconstruction of the NHIA office.
