Didier Drogba’s post triggers another social media controversy on 2024 Ballon d’Or

Some members of the public have questioned legendary Ivorian footballer Didier Drogba over a post he made on X regarding the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony.

The former Chelsea striker, who hosted the 2024 Ballon d’Or event, took to his social media page (X) to thank his colleagues and the organizers of the event who helped make it a success.

Drogba went on to appreciate them for putting in their best efforts despite a ‘last-minute’ changes they had to make before the event, which complicated their work.

“So proud of my Team and the work we’ve put on especially with all the last minutes changes that led to the loss of half the written script we worked on the past 10 days,” portions of the tweet read.

In reaction to the post, some individuals called out Drogba to disclose the exact changes they made to the script shortly before the event to clear the air amid the controversy.

Others alleged that it is a confirmation of the rumors that Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr. was denied the award at the last minute and it was given to Manchester City midfielder Rodri instead.

Rodri won several titles, including the English Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA EURO 2024, to clinch the coveted award.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr. won the UEFA Champions League, Super Cup, and Spanish La Liga, and was tipped as the favorite to win but could not do so, leading to his team boycotting the award.
