OFM Computer World, a record label owned by Ghanaian record producer Kwame Mickey, has announced a breakthrough in the copyright battle with the Ghanaian gospel crew, Team Eternity.
Following the release of their smash hit ‘Defe Defe’, Team Eternity was accused by Kwame Mickey of breaching copyright laws by using a portion of the original “Defe Defe” by Hallelujah Voices without authorization.
Amid threats of legal action, OFM wrote to YouTube requesting that Team Eternity’s version be censured until the case is determined by a court.
However, in a statement dated Monday, July 1, 2024, OFM Computer World announced an agreement between the label and Team Eternity had been reached.
“The parties have duly entered into a License Agreement under which Kwame Mickey grants to TEG the non-exclusive right to use the New Song, those words derived from the Existing Song,” the statement said.
