Create an app for stabilising the dollar – Basintale challenges Bawumia

The Deputy National Communication Officer of the NDC, Malik Basintale, has criticised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his recent app-launching spree under his digitalisation initiative.

Appearing as a guest panelist on TV3 Newday on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Malik Basintale said Dr. Bawumia has neglected the actual issues facing Ghanaians and has now resorted to creating and launching apps that do not address the real-life situations facing the ordinary citizen.

Basintale therefore challenged Dr. Bawumia to create an app that will stabilise the rising cedi against the dollar and one that can address the issue of unemployment.

“What saddens my heart is Dr. Bawumia says he has created an app for trotro drivers. If he is now Google Play Store, he should create an app for stabilising the dollar and an app for reducing unemployment. We want apps that can stabilise the economy. You can’t turn yourself into Google Play Store and be creating bogus apps. Who buys a trotro and pays through an app? That should be on hold,” he said.

Basintale entreated Ghanaians to vote for the National Democratic Congress presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, who, according to him, has expressed his commitment and willingness to address the concerns that affect them.

He added that Mahama will, among many other things, reduce taxes and electricity tariffs for businesses to help with their expansion and the recruitment of youth into the sector.

“What we are saying is that Ghanaians should listen to a nation builder who says he has a solution to create jobs in this country. Businesses are willing to expand, and recruit people, and John Mahama has assured to meet them halfway by reducing their taxes, electricity tariffs, and providing security for the recruitment of the youth into the economy,” he stated.
