A Circuit Court in Accra has fined six Nigerians who were arrested at a birthday party during the restriction on movement a total of GHc86, 400.

The accused persons pleaded guilty to the offence and were convicted on their own plea to a fine of GHc14, 400 each or face five years in jail in default.

The accused persons after pleading guilty asked the court to temper justice with mercy.

But the prosecution led by Chief Inspector Guiliver Tenkorang said the accused persons deserve hefty punishment to serve as a deterrent to others.

He said the accused persons knew the consequences of what they did and also knew what was happening in the country when the restriction was imposed by the President to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Starr News’ Court Correspondent Muntalla Inusah who was in court reported that all the accused persons went down on their knees before they were whisked away.

The accuse persons are, Amadi Mine, Aboy-Iyen Precious, Marshal Ovieshare, Godsway Fejiro, Eliot Sharker and David Amos.
