VIDEO: Detailed account of how NPP Chairman and Shankus died in ghastly accident

The Brong Ahafo Regional Police Command has released details of how the Ahafo Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Opoku Sarfo alias Chairman Jerry and one other died in a ghastly accident on Saturday, July 6, 2019.

According to the police, the incident happened at about 5:45 pm when the 50-year-old businessman in charge of a Toyota land cruiser with registration number GT 3150- 17 with four occupants on board driving from Achrensua to Hwidiem, where they attended a funeral.

On reaching a section of the road at a village called Banahene, the vehicle veered off the road and somersaulted according to Kenyasi District Police Commander.

“Yes it’s true, Sarfo Opoku, the current NPP Chairman for Ahafo went to Acherensua on funeral with four occupants on board with his own vehicle. The vehicle Number is GT 3150-17 Toyota land cruiser, so on his way back to Kenyasi he had an accident. The vehicle veered off the road and surmasaulted. Jerry and one Salifu Musah Alias Sankus died on the spot.” DSP Taddy Damteh Brown revealed.

Sarfo Poku and Salifu Musah were confirmed dead on arrival at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Hospital in Hwidiem.

The other occupants including the wife of Chairman Jerry are said to be critical are receiving treatment at the Komfo Ankoye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi where they were rushed to.

Meanwhile, the bodies have been deposited at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Hospital’s morgue for preservation pending autopsy.
