Couple Arrested for Allegedly Beating 13-Year-Old Daughter to Death in Kokrobite

A couple in Kokrobite has been arrested for allegedly fatally assaulting their 13-year-old daughter, Celestine. The suspects, identified as 54-year-old Issah Mohammed and his partner, Yaa Grace, reportedly beat the teenager after accusing her of eating food meant for her younger brother.

According to the Weija Divisional Police Command, the parents allegedly used a cane, a shovel, and a cutlass to inflict serious injuries on Celestine before locking her in a room without food or water. Neighbors became suspicious and alerted the authorities, who found the girl unconscious. She was rushed to the Police Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police recovered a cutlass and a metal pipe from the scene, believed to have been used in the assault. Relatives of Celestine’s mother expressed outrage, highlighting a history of abusive behavior by the father and demanding justice.

The Kokrobite District Police Command has launched a full investigation into the incident, urging parents and guardians to avoid excessive corporal punishment, emphasizing that such actions are criminal and can have tragic consequences.
