Freedom Concert: Showboy mocks Stonebwoy after Vybz Kartel opts for Shatta Wale

Ghanaian socialite Samuel Safo, popularly known as Showboy, has mocked Stonebwoy after he was left out of the list of performers for Vybz Kartel’s forthcoming ‘Freedom Concert’.

In a video shared on social media, Showboy accused the Ghanaian dancehall musician of speaking “fake patois” and stated that it was the reason Vybz Kartel didn’t invite him to perform.

He emphasised that Shatta Wale, who was invited to perform, often blends the Ga language into his music, yet has gained recognition on the international stage.

“The only dancehall king we have in Africa who was invited by Vybz Kartel to perform is Shatta Wale. Stonebwoy speaks fake patois, that’s why Vybz didn’t call him. Shatta Wale has used Ga, and now look at where he has been billed to perform,” Showboy stated.

He also claimed that while he respects Stonebwoy as an artiste, their personal issues stem from when Stonebwoy allegedly didn’t appreciate him after they released the song “Bie Gya.”

Showboy also accused Stonebwoy of sampling songs without credit, citing his use of Buk Bak’s “Kolom” in his latest track, “Jiggle and Whine.”

On December 3, 2024, Jamaican music icon Vybz Kartel announced that Shatta Wale is among the artistes who will perform at his ‘Freedom Concert’.

The event, scheduled for December 31, 2024, at the Kingston National Stadium in Jamaica, marks Kartel’s return to the stage after over a decade in prison.

Other performers at the concert include Busta Rhymes, Popcaan, Spice, and many others.
