Corruption: Bite! GII to Akufo-Addo
The Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) has demanded regular updates and reports from the office of the Attorney General on corruption-related cases in the country.
Programme Manager at GII, Mrs Mary Awelana Addah has listed several cases that have been investigated by the media and other entities within the year but have received little or no attention from the relevant authorities.
GII is, therefore, entreating President Nana Akufo-Addo to intervene to ensure that all corruption issues are resolved.
“We have invited you [media] today to demand of government, particularly, agencies of state mandated to investigate and prosecute corruption, the status of several alleged cases of corruption which inundated the airwaves during the course of the year but, unfortunately, we still do not know the outcome,” she said at a press conference on Wednesday, 18 December 2018.
She said the government has made it known that they were taking measures to fight corruption, therefore, they are demanding “updates on what has been done so far or is being done as the year 2018 comes to an end”.
