The Head Pastor of Open Arms Ministry in Kumasi, Apostle Kofi Nkansah-Sarkodie, also known as Brother Sack, has been arrested by the Buffalo Unit of the Ghana Police Service on Wednesday morning for organizing church service.
He was arrested at North Suntrso branch of the church in defiance of the president’s directives of suspending all public gatherings including conferences, funerals, church activities for 4 weeks in the control of coronavirus disease which the country has recorded seven suspected cases.
President Nana Akufo-Addo in a televised address on Sunday evening ordered the closure of all schools and universities in Ghana as his administration moves to stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
He also placed suspension on all public gatherings including conferences, funerals, and church activities for four weeks.
Otec News’ reporter, Akwasi Acheampong, who was at the church premises said the congregations, numbering about hundred, were not wearing any protective gears as prescribed by the Ghana Health Services (GHS).
“After the arrest of the head pastor, the associate pastors gathered all the congregation back to the auditorium and continued their church activities, saying, only God can save them from the deadly disease, not by any preventive measures,” he reported on Otec FM’s morning show, ‘Nyasapo’, hosted by Captain Koda.
