There seems to be confusion among executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, over recruitment of polling agents in parts of the Eastern Region.

Attempts by some individual Constituency executives in the Eastern region to recruit Polling agents for the December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections have been blocked by the Regional Executives.

A letter in possession of mybrytfmonline.com signed by Alhaji Umar Bodinga, Eastern Regional First Vice Chairman of the Party addressed to Suhum Constituency executives of the party alleged to be recruiting polling agents described their act as “unacceptable and against the guidelines set by the National Executives.”

“The attention of the Leadership of Juaben/Akuapem Bloc of the ruling New Patriotic Party has been drawn to supposed public recruitment of Polling Agents at the Constituency Party Office at Suhum. This is unacceptable and against the Guidelines set out by the National Executives with respect to the Selection of Polling Agents for the Party in the general elections” Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga Regional 1st Vice Chairman and Head of Juaben and Akuapem Block for this year’s election warned.

He added in the statement that “The Bloc Leadership is by this statement requesting any Constituency Officer other than you as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Candidate to cease forthwith any exercise with the intention of recruiting Polling Agents for the Party in the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary general elections.”

Alhaji Bodinga stated that “the Bloc Leadership is working with all relevant stakeholders in the Constituency to ensure that qualified Agents are selected and trained to man the polls during the General Elections.”
