Head coach of the Black Meteors Ibrahim Tanko is reported to have invited ten foreign-based players to strengthen his team ahead of their 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations against Gabon.

Ghana will host West African counterparts Guinea in the first leg of the qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, March 23.

Last month, coach Tanko commenced preparations at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence ahead of the crucial clash with 24 local-based players.

According to media reports, the former deputy FC Koln trainer has included ten foreign-based players to bolster the squad for the match.

The reports indicate that Yaw Yeboah who was a key cog for the side in the victory against Togo in first round of the qualifiers against has been called-up.

St Gallen duo Majeed Ashimeru and Musah Nuhu have also been handed call-ups following their swashbuckling performances in the Swiss Super League.

The invited players are expected to touch down in country between March 15 and 18.

Benjamin Tetteh (Sparta Prague, Czech Republic), Isaac Twum (IK Start, Norway), Kwabena Owusu (Salamanca CF, Spain), Musah Nuhu (FC St. Gallen, Switzerland), Majeed Ashimeru (FC St. Gallen, Switzerland), Kingsley Fobi (UD Ibiza, Spain), Yaw Yeboah (CD Numancia, Spain), Joseph Paintsil (KRC Genk, Belgium), Gideon Mensah (SK Sturm Graz, Austria) and Osman Bukari (AS Trencin, Slovakia).

This year’s edition of the U23 Africa Nations Cup will be staged between 5-22 November 2019 in Egypt.

The tournament will determine which three African teams will compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics men’s football tournament in Tokyo.
