Twenty-eight people died from road crashes during the Christmas festivities, the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service has said.
Also, some 148 people sustained injuries as a result of the 133 crashes that occurred between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.
Accra was the worst hit with 44 crashes followed by Ashanti Region with 22 cases.
From 19 to 25 December 2021, 81 people died from crashes.
Some 378 others got injured from the 373 crashes that occurred within that period.
Again, Accra led the pack with 156 crashes.
It was followed by the Ashanti Region – 90.
The North East Region reported one case but Savanna Region had no crash within that period.
