The Chief of Freso, a farming community in the Bosome Freho District of the Ashanti region is in the grips of the Bekwai Divisional Police for raping a 12-year-old girl.
Nana Kofi Asumaning who is currently behind bars is being processed for court today May 24, 2019, police has told Kingdom FM Accra.
It has been medically proven that the victim has been penetrated and bruised, Kingdom FM gathered from the medical report.
According to the Bekwai police, the Chief had asked the victim to go to his house to take GHC 10, which was supposed to be paid for some firewood he had bought from her widowed mother.
The girl was allegedly raped by the Chief when she went to his house for the money on the first day; he, however, refused to pay the money and warned her not tell her mother what he had done, with a promise to come for the money the next day.
The source said he raped her again the next day and still refused to give the money to the girl.
The twelve-year-old girl rushed home weeping and reported the incident to her mother.
When Nana Kofi Asumaning was confronted, he vehemently denied the allegation and publicly invoked curses on the girl and her mother.
A police medical report, however, confirmed that the girl had actually been penetrated multiple times and heavily bruised. The police immediately arrested the chief.
