Chairman Wontumi recounts how he ‘copied’ from ex-Kotoko midfielder Chibsah during Prempeh College exams

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, alias Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, has made an interesting revelation about his days at Prempeh College in Kumasi.

Speaking on Wontumi FM, Chairman Wontumi recounted that former Asante Kotoko midfielder Yussif Chibsah was his classmate.

Wontumi praised Chibsah’s academic credentials, noting that Chibsah was a brilliant student who helped him during their final examinations.

“Yussif Chibsah, the footballer, was my classmate at Asante Kotoko. He was very intelligent, but I was not. During our final exams, whenever he stood up to pick an extra sheet, I’d stand up and pick one too. I would pretend like I was picking paper and then snatch his paper because he was the intelligent one,” he said.

Chairman Wontumi, who claimed to have completed Prempeh College in 1994, previously opened up on how the school shaped his future.

“When we came, at that time we didn’t have one house, now I have plenty of houses,” Chairman Wontumi said.

“When I was coming, I was using my Ferrari, so one teacher came and said the noise is big. This is what God has done. If you are rich, the signs will tell you this guy has changed.”

He said he intentionally brought that car to the campus to motivate the students.

“I was an average student; I was always last but ten in school… So we are here to make friends and integrity and for you to increase your wisdom. What the teachers teach us in class is just the certificate for us to go out and practice it there.”
