Chainsaw operator shot dead by unknown assailants at Amenam

 

The body of the deceased was found in the forest

A chainsaw operator has been allegedly murdered by some assailants at Amenam, a community in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region.

Although the perpetrators of the crime are yet to be identified, the family of late Daniel Owusu have on Adom FM disclosed that their relative’s body was found in the forest with gunshot wounds by some Forestry officials on an inspection mission.

According to the bereaved family, the incident occurred while Daniel was out in the forest felling trees.

Confirming the incident, District Police Commander, DSP Peter Ofori Donkor indicated that upon receiving a distress call, a team of policemen were dispatched to the scene where the body was retrieved.

The body has since been deposited at Abirem Government Hospital for preservation and autopsy

DSP Peter Ofori Donkor said they have open up investigations to ascertain the cause of the death.
