Calm restored at Bole after deadly clash – Police
The Public Relations Officer for the Northern regional Ghana Police Command DSP Yussif Tanko has disclosed calm has been restored in Bole after the first day of curfew.
The Interior Ministry imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on Bole in the Northern Region following chieftaincy-related violence in the area which led to the death of two people on Sunday.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Monday, DSP Tanko said all activities have returned to normalcy in the community with no records of chaoas in the course of the night.
“School children are back to the classroom, workers to the office with farmers, traders and all other jobs moving on smoothly in Bole due to the presence of military and police personnel,” he explained.
He added that the curfew was necessary because people could have perpetrated evil in the course of the night.
DSP Tanko said investigations have been launched into the case to fish out the direct individuals who are behind the violence.
“We know the Mandari and Alhaji Abdullai are the two gates involved in the clashes but we cannot deal with the larger group so we are still working to identify the individual suspects who will be arraigned before court and prosecuted,” he explained.
There was fierce gun battle between the feuding factions during this year’s Damba festival in Bole in the Northern region which led to the death of people and the setting ablaze of houses with vehicles also vandalised.
