Christianity is not for show-off, make it practical – Rt. Rev. Samuel Osabutey to Christians
The Accra Diocesan Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Rt. Rev. Samuel K. Osabutey has urged Christians to apply the instructions in the Bible to their lives and not just be hearers of the word.
The man of God took his sermon from the gospel of John 16: 1-15 with his message focusing on the selflessness of Jesus Christ, who fed over 5000 hungry people with five loaves of bread and two fish.
According to the Bible Jesus sought solitude at a place called Bethsaida when he heard about the death of his cousin, John the Baptist. The multitude gathered when they saw Jesus, who in turn, shared the Word with them, healed the sick among them, and fed them when evening approached.
He explained that, Jesus exhibited compassion and servitude when he recognized not only the spiritual but the physical needs of the people.
Speaking at the thanksgiving service for the late fore Vice President, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur at the Calvary Methodist Church in Accra, Rt. Rev. Osabutey stressed that the Christian faith is not one that should be a show off but made practical.
Describing Amissah-Arthur as one who lived a similar life to Jesus Christ, the man of God stated that the late Vice President was one who never made “noise” about his faith but applied what the book said.
“I have known him as a quiet person. Somebody who does not flaunt and make noise about his Christian faith. He felt that the Christian faith is not something we have to make noise about but it must be lived out in practical lifestyle,” he said.
He therefore, advised the other Christians not to be religious but walk and live the faith talk.
