BREAKING NEWS: Ghanaian officials visits NAM1 in police custody[PHOTOS]

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of embattled Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah popularly known as NAM 1 and revealed that officials from the Ghanaian consulate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) visited him in police custody in Dubai today , a release by the police administration confirmed.

The statement signed by ACP David Eklu, Director-General Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service and copied to MyNewsGh.com reads “ On Wednesday January 9, 2019, the Ghana Police Service confirmed reports that an arrest warrant has been issued for the Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold Ltd., Mr. Nana Appiah Mensah (aka NAM 1) and two other directors of the Company on charges of defrauding by false pretences. This followed reports by customers of the company to that effect.

2. That same day, an Interpol alert was triggered to facilitate a search for him globally.

3. On Sunday January 13, Ghanaian officials in Dubai were informed by Emirati officials that they had already arrested NAM I as at December 7, 2018. His arrest in Dubai is to facilitate investigation into suspicions that he had been involved in a gold trading deal gone  bad within the Emirati jurisdiction.

4. Ghanaian officials have visited NAM I in the custody of Dubai Police.

5. Engagements with Dubai authorities on the next steps have commenced and the Police Administration assures the public that due process will be followed.
