Kofi Annan holds Chieftaincy title in Gonjaland

The late former UN Secretary Mr Kofi Annan was en-skinned Kegbembiwura  in Damongo on the 25th of May 2002 at the Jakpa Palace in Damongo. He was enskinned by the late overlord and King of the Gonjaland traditional area Yagbonwura Bawa Doshie.

Kegbembewura, which literally means King of the street was given to Mr Annan as the chief of Fufulso-Sawla road so that he could help talk to former President Kuffour to push for the construction of the road.

Late Annan after the enskinment planted a baobab tree on the compound of the Yagbonwura’s palace which is fully grown now and can be found closed to the mosque of the overlord. The Fufulso- Sawla road was however constructed in 2012 under the Mills-Mahama regime in 2012.
