The return of Kwesi Appiah – Ghanaians react after Ghana draw Sudan in 2025 AFCON qualifiers

Ghanaians on social media, especially X (Twitter) are gearing up for Ghana’s match against Sudan in the 2025 African Cup qualifiers following the draw on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

The Black Stars have been placed in Group F with Angola, Sudan, and Niger for the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers.

Ghana will face Sudan, which is coached by former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah, making the match one of the most anticipated games in the qualifiers.

Many Ghanaians believe Kwesi Appiah will have a lot to prove as a form of retribution for the unfair treatment he received during his time with the Black Stars.

Meanwhile, some believe that the group is the easiest Ghana could have hoped for, while a few others express concerns about Angola being the real threat.

As a former player and coach for the Black Stars, Kwesi Appiah’s tenure was marked by significant achievements.

He is the first Ghanaian coach to have qualified Ghana for the World Cup in 2014.

Kwesi Appiah was appointed as the head coach of Sudan in 2023.

Since his appointment, Kwesi Appiah has led Sudan on an impressive unbeaten streak in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Sudanese team currently tops a group that includes heavyweights like Senegal and the D.R. Congo.
