“The angry youth managed to rip off sections of the Nana Ampiawkoko Palace roof, but it is unclear if they were able to steal the black stool. The situation caused parts of the palace to be flooded by rain,” a spokesperson of the traditional council, Nana Ekow Mensah, told Citi News.

According to Ekow Mensah, elders of the traditional council including the Abusapanyin of the palace had to run for cover for fear of being attacked by the angry mob.

“The Leadership of the traditional council had to run for cover for fear of being lynched by the angry mob who besieged the palace. For now, we are waiting for the police to intervene in the matter since we have reported the matter to them and the Agona Nyarkrom Traditional Council,” Nana Mensah added.

“We are all afraid and have gone into hiding. We want the IGP, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, and his men to intervene before an unfortunate incident happens. We have five stool gates and so one gate cannot claim ownership of everything” Nana Adjoa said.
