C/R: 46 injured in accidents on Kasoa-Cape Coast highway

Forty-six passengers have sustained various degrees of injuries in two separate accidents on the Kasoa – Cape Coast highway and are at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital receiving treatment.

The accidents happened Sunday, April 14, 2022.

The first accident happened at Gomoa Mpota while the second happened at Gomoa Mankesim in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region.

Police say, three vehicles, Sprinter Benz Bus, Kia Rhino, and Daf Trailer were involved in the first accident.

According to the Winneba Municipal Fire Service Commander, D03 Kwesi Hughes, the Kia Rhino tried to overtake the sprinter bus, but in the process smashed into the side of the sprinter bus and collided with the Daf Trailer coming from Accra to Cape Coast.

Eight of the passengers were trapped in the bus before they were removed and sent to the Hospital.

In the second accident, a Sprinter Benz Bus with the Registration number GN 2572- 10 from Cape Coast to Accra burst a tyre and somersaulted leaving the passengers injured.

D03 Kwesi Hughes, condemned overloading by the driver as he was transporting 36 instead of 23 passengers including food stuff.

No death has been recorded so far.
