Bus carrying 62 schoolchildren involved in accident on Adukrom-Somanya road

A bus carrying 62 schoolchildren from Ben Konadu SDA Basic School in Asante Akyem has reportedly been involved in a fatal accident on the Adukrom-Somanya road.

According to Citi Newsroom, several students are feared dead, while many others sustained injuries.

The tragic incident occurred on the Aseseeso stretch while the children were on an excursion to Akosombo.

Eyewitnesses reported that the driver lost control while descending a hill, causing the bus to somersault multiple times before landing on its side.

The force of the crash left several students trapped inside the wreckage, with others thrown out upon impact.

The injured students have been rushed to the Yilo Krobo Municipal Hospital for medical attention.

Personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Ambulance Service swiftly arrived at the scene to assist in the rescue operation.

They worked tirelessly to recover the trapped victims while ensuring that the injured received urgent medical care.

Authorities are yet to confirm the exact number of casualties as investigations continue to determine the cause of the accident.
