NDC chairman reveals real reason why Mahama is running for election 2020

The Bantama constituency chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), David Kwesi Hedezi, has disclosed the reason why Former President John Mahama is seeking reelection as president.

He explained that the NDC does not want to take any chances, and will not make room for surprises with regard to the general elections in 2020.

According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, Hededzi went on to say that Mahama is the only one competent enough to defeat President Akufo-Addo in the 2020 elections.

“We are all behind him because we know that he is the only one for now who can win power for the NDC in 2020,” he said.

He added that only Mahama has the track record to secure victory for the party, and none of the others is capable of competing with President Akufo-Addo.

“If we bring in a new person, it may not be good for us. The person coming doesn’t have any track record of being a president, even though he may be good to assume the presidency and all that; but we the NDC are serious and want to win power come 2020,” he stated.

The NDC is expected to hold its presidential primary on December 7 2018 to elect their flagbearer for the upcoming 2020 polls.

Some people who have declared their intentions to contest for the position include Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Kweku Riketts-Hagan, Eliplim Agbmava, Sylvester Mensah, Professor Joshua Alabi and Goosie Tanoh.
