Bimbo Ademoye warns Ghanaian TV Stations over unauthorized broadcast of her films

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye has issued a stern warning to television stations in Ghana, accusing several of them of illegally airing her films without obtaining the appropriate rights.

Her public statement adds to a growing chorus of Nigerian filmmakers—among them Ruth Kadiri and Omoni Oboli—who have expressed frustration over ongoing copyright infringements by some Ghanaian media outlets.

In a video posted to her Instagram page, Ademoye conveyed her disappointment and anger over what she described as repeated violations of her intellectual property. She revealed that she initially attempted to resolve the matter amicably, hoping for open discussions and partnerships with the broadcasters involved.

“That TV station in Ghana, I’m talking to you—don’t show my movies. I haven’t given you permission,” she said. “Before, I used to say, ‘Let’s talk and share,’ but now, I don’t want your money. Just don’t show my movies.”

Reports indicate that Ghana’s Daily TV and at least three other television stations are alleged to have broadcasted Ademoye’s films without authorization.

Frustrated by the lack of accountability, the actress warned that she is now prepared to escalate the matter legally if the unauthorized broadcasts continue.

In addition to calling out TV stations, Ademoye also criticized several YouTube channels—including Ayodeji Films, Nolly Specials, and Nollynew Series—for misusing her name, likeness, and film titles to mislead viewers with unrelated or stolen content.

“These platforms are not only violating my rights—they’re deceiving viewers in my name,” she asserted.

In a powerful caption accompanying her video, Ademoye emphasized her commitment to defending her creative work:
“Let the battle begin. I will not let anyone profit off my blood, sweat, and sleepless nights.”
