Big 6 not only deserving people to be on the cedi – BoG told

Mr. Apatsea Isaac Kwasi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Center for Leadership and Democratic Governance (CLDG) has appealed to the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to reconsider other people who served to bring Ghana to where it is today and honour them by using their images on the currency of Ghana than always making it appear as though the big 6 are the best thing to have happened to Ghana.

He said, many people male and female according to the history of Ghana have contributed immensely to the success story of Ghana and the best way to immortalize them is to put their images on some of the denominations of Ghana’s currency.

Mr. Apatsea again said he is shocked at the rate at which the Big Sis is the only image found on the various denominations of Ghana’s currency.

“It is only the ¢2.00 denomination which does not bear the image of the big six. By showing the image of people who diligently served to put Ghana on the world map, it will help preserve our history, honour the families, and also educate the people on the mark they made”, he stated.

He further named people who contributed to the history of Ghana like Krobo Edusei, H.E Jerry John Rawlings, the late Prof Mills former president, even chiefs who did well like Denkyira Chiefs Odeefuo Boamponsem, Ashanti Chiefs like Otumfuo Opoku Ware II among others.

Adding “It is time we consider the people who served to make Ghana the way it is to encourage many people to wholeheartedly serve Ghana in truth”.
