Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai MCE and driver die in accident on Accra to Kumasi Highway

The Municipal Chief Executive for Bibiani Anwhiaso Bekwai, Alfred Amoah and his driver have died in a gory accident at Akyem Fisher stretch of the Accra to Kumasi highway in Eastern Region.

The horrific crash happened on July 12, 2022 about 5:15 pm when the MCE and his driver aboard Nissan Patrol 4×4 with registration number GC 2060- 18 traveling from Accra to Bibiani collided head-on with a Man Diesel Articulated truck with registration number AS 4229-X from Kumasi direction which suddenly veered off its lane.

The MCE and his driver got trapped in the mangled vehicle for several minutes and both reportedly died on the spot, according to an accident report by the Kibi Divisional MTTD of the Ghana Police Service.

The Police, assisted by the Ghana National Fire Service from Bunso and Kibi extricated the bodies and sent them to Kibi Government Hospital where they were confirmed by the Medical Officer on duty.

Their bodies have been deposited at the mortuary for preservation, identification, and autopsy, according to Inspector Edward Nimo, Kibi Divisional MTTD Commander.

Meanwhile, efforts are being made to tow the accident vehicles from the scene while police pursue to arrest the Articulated truck driver who is currently at large.
