Ghana winger Bernard Tekpetey has undergone a successful surgery after suffering an injury during Ludogorets’ UEFA Champions League qualifier against Qarabag.
The 26-year-old sustained the injury after a clash with Qarabag’s Kevin Medina and had to be replaced on the hour mark.
Tekpetey was flown to Austria, where he was operated on by medics led by the famous Dr. Paul Stampfl.
He is expected to stay in Vienna for a week before he returns to Razgrad to continue his recovery. Tekpetey could be out for months due to the injury.
Meanwhile, Ludogorets secured an important victory in Baku, defeating the Azerbaijani giants 2-1 in the first leg of their tie.
However, Tekpetey’s absence will be a huge blow for the Green Eagles following his electric start to the campaign in Europe.
The former Schalke forward has been a key player for the Bulgarian giants, playing a pivotal role in their dominance of the domestic league.
