Bawumia hails Oquaye report as a “Call to Action” ahead of NPP thank you tour

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has described the Oquaye Report as a transformative document that transcends ideas and recommendations, calling it “a clarion call to duty and transformation.”

Speaking on Wednesday, April 23, at the NPP headquarters in Accra, ahead of the party’s upcoming Thank You Tour, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the report’s role in shaping the party’s ideological path and governance outlook.

“The Oquaye Report is not just a document. It is a call to action—an urgent reminder that we must pursue our democratic values with even greater resolve,” he stated.

According to Dr. Bawumia, the report encapsulates the political philosophy and vision of Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, former Speaker of Parliament and a stalwart of the party. He noted that it provides a strategic blueprint for consolidating Ghana’s constitutional democracy and promoting economic freedom.

He urged party members and stakeholders to deeply engage with the report and practically implement its insights and proposals.

“This is not a document to be shelved. It is a working manual—one that speaks to our generation and the next,” he emphasized.

The NPP flagbearer stressed that the report aligns strongly with the party’s core principles of good governance, transparency, and national development, and includes critical reflections on decentralization, youth empowerment, and the private sector’s role in economic growth.

Dr. Bawumia further revealed that key aspects of the Oquaye Report will be integrated into the party’s 2024 manifesto, stating that doing so would “bring its ideas to life” and ensure its principles guide policy and implementation going forward.
