Gushegu residents turn abandoned smock factory site into football pitch

People of Gushegu in the Northern Region have turned a smock factory site into a playground because it has been abandoned after 10 months of sod-cutting.

Member of Parliament for Gushegu, who is also a Deputy Minister for Tourism, Dr. Addi Ziblim September last year cut sod for commencement of a smock factory.

During the sod-cutting, he said the project was to start October last year but till date, nothing has happened.

Adom News Reporter Kwame Kulenu has visited the site and reports that weeds have taken over the land and residents now use part of the site as a playground.

The youth said they are disappointed in the MP for cutting sod for a project and leaving it to grow weeds.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Musah Issah said the project was still at procurement stage, adding that “the sod-cutting was done in a rush.”

He however assured that the procurement process will be completed soon for work to begin.

Musah Issah said the site will be used for a multi-purpose facility, which will include a hotel, a car park, restaurant and the smock factory.
