Baker, 34, defiles girl, 13

A 34-year-old baker has been remanded in custody by an Accra Circuit Court for having carnal knowledge of a 13-year-old girl at Madina New Road, Accra.

Mike Danso, who pleaded not guilty, was remanded in the court, presided over Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku.

Danso, who works for the victim’s grandmother, allegedly had anal sex with her on four occasions.

The prosecutor, Mrs Agnes Boafo, told the court that Danso resides with the girl’s grandmother and works for her.

Usually at about four o’clock every morning, Danso wakes the children up to start their daily chores, Mrs Boafo said.

One early morning in July 2018, Danso went to the room of the 13-year-old girl and forcibly had anal sex with her, and then went about his daily routine.

“The act was repeated on four occasions,” Mrs Boafo told the court.

The girl, after sometime, narrated her ordeal to her elder sister, and the issue was reported to the girl’s grandmother.

In the course of giving the complaint, a neighbour overheard the conversation and immediately reported to the Madina Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU).

The girl and her grandmother were invited to the Madina DOVVSU and were issued a medical report for the girl to be examined by a medical officer at the unit.

Subsequently, Danso was apprehended and after investigations by the Madina police, he was charged with defilement and brought to the court.
